Jesus said to his disciples: "You have heard that it was said, An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. But I say to you, offer no resistance to one who is evil. When someone strikes you on your right cheek, turn the other one to him as well. If anyone wants to go to law with you over your tunic, hand him your cloak as well. Should anyone press you into service for one mile, go with him for two miles. Give to the one who asks of you, and do not turn your back on one who wants to borrow."
Dawg's Thought:
Today's prayer intention - for strength for those who are persecuted for their Christian faith.
O Holy Face of my Savior,
Who bore the strikes of Your persecutors as they mocked You,
help me to turn my cheek in humility.
O Wounded Back of my Savior,
stripped of Your cloak that was a prize for your persecutors,
help me place loving my neighbor before all possessions.
O Tired Legs of my Savior,
forced to carry the weight of my sin on Your way to Your death,
help me to persevere when I fear the next step on mile you call me to walk.
Lord, help me renounce me desire of personal affirmation, possession, and comfort so as to be united with You in the words You give us today. May I imitate You in the dignified way You lived out Your works on the way to my salvation. Amen.
Take care and God Bless.
