Mark 2:23-28

As Jesus was passing through a field of grain on the sabbath, his disciples began to make a path while picking the heads of grain. At this the Pharisees said to him, "Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the sabbath?" He said to them, "Have you never read what David did when he was in need and he and his companions were hungry? How he went into the house of God when Abiathar was high priest and ate the bread of offering that only the priests could lawfully eat, and shared it with his companions?" Then he said to them, "The sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath. That is why the Son of Man is lord even of the sabbath."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for a special intention.

In my life, there is an "old" and "new" version of how I saw God's commandments.

The "old" version saw God's commandments as ways I need to be in God's favor. The commandments seemed like they were for God versus for me and I'm suppose to just obey in order to remain in His favor. His love and mercy, while "concealed" in the commands, seemed seperate from His commands.

Fortunately, we mature in our faith and God's plans are "revealed" to us as God's merciful plan for us. This is "new" testament is still being unfolded in my own life.

The bad part about that is that I'm still stuck on the "old" ways which separates God's mercy and love from His commands. It's bad because it's a way Satan can latch on to my already weak faith and "push and pull" me away from where God is. Sometimes, it literally feels that way: like someone trying to shake an fruit off of the tree so that it falls away from The One Who references Himself as "The Vine".

I'm still learning in the midst of being shaken. All I can do is cling tighter to "The Vine" knowing that everything He gives us is mercy and love. Take care and God Bless.
