John 13:16-20

When Jesus had washed the disciples' feet, he said to them: "Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him. If you understand this, blessed are you if you do it. I am not speaking of all of you. I know those whom I have chosen. But so that the Scripture might be fulfilled, The one who ate my food has raised his heel against me. From now on I am telling you before it happens, so that when it happens you may believe that I AM. Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those who are engaged, that God grant them the wisdom and purity.

If we are going to truly be an imitation of Christ, we must remember that the best way to do that is to stay unified with the will of The Father. Christ shows each of us that to be "unified" with The Father is to accept Christ and accept The Father. To be unified means staying obedient to Our Lord's will.

There are many ways to be unified with God in prayer. One means of being unified with God is prayer is testified to in today's reading: service. There are those who serve on a "extraordinary" basis. What comes to mind first is those in the priesthood and religious life, and missionaries around the world and missionaries. It is important to recognize that we are called to serve in our own daily lives that we find as "ordinary." Examples would be practicing forgiveness in the everyday "little" offenses and practicing virtue in times of temptation. Both are the will of The Father, and in surrendering your struggles to Our Lord you accomplish His will in being obedient. This is a very good example of "unity" with Our Lord and I look forward to practicing this in order to grow in holiness. I hope you're excited as I am! Take care and God Bless.
