Matthew 10: 7-15
Jesus said to his Apostles: "As you go, make this proclamation: 'The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.' Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, drive out demons. Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give. Do not take gold or silver or copper for your belts; no sack for the journey, or a second tunic, or sandals, or walking stick. The laborer deserves his keep. Whatever town or village you enter, look for a worthy person in it, and stay there until you leave. As you enter a house, wish it peace. If the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it; if not, let your peace return to you. Whoever will not receive you or listen to your words, go outside that house or town and shake the dust from your feet. Amen, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town."
Dawg's Thought:
Today's prayer intention - for Mary E., who had her leg amputated recently.
When I was eight years old, we moved from an apartment to a home. I remember the first day we moved into the house as my brother ran into the glass door as he expressed his excitement. Beyond that, the changes that I remember were that there were new chores to do: water the grass, clean up after the dog that we just got, and helping my dad as now he has a garage to work on his cars.
As I thought of the Kingdom of heaven being at hand, I realized that there was nothing I could do to make this happen. My parents did the work to help us get into our new home, and Our Lord made it so that the Kingdom of heaven is at hand. There was nothing I could change in order to get back into the old apartment that we lived in, just as I cannot reverse God's plan.
It was a great blessing to live in a new home, and my actions spoke that I was living in a new home. I wouldn't be watering the grass if we still lived in an apartment.
In the same way, how does our actions speak that the Kingdom of heaven is at hand?
Jesus, i trust in You.
I trust that the Kingdom of heaven is at hand
even though my eyes still see
a people who desire to deny You.
Guide my thoughts and my actions
so that other may know that
the Kingdom of heaven is at hand,
and so that i may know that
the Kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Jesus, i trust in You.
Take care and God Bless.
