Ephesians 4:32–5:8
Brothers and sisters: Be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving one another as God has forgiven you in Christ.
Be imitators of God, as beloved children, and live in love, as Christ loved us and handed himself over for us as a sacrificial offering to God for a fragrant aroma. Immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be mentioned among you, as is fitting among holy ones, no obscenity or silly or suggestive talk, which is out of place, but instead, thanksgiving. Be sure of this, that no immoral or impure or greedy person, that is, an idolater, has any inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ and of God.
Let no one deceive you with empty arguments, for because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the disobedient. So do not be associated with them. For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for an end to the use of pornography. This week begins "anti-pornography" week.
I heard a great homily yesterday upholding the dignity of fatherhood. Looking to God as "Father" has such a great impact in our own lives because "those who have seen Christ have seen The Father."
As children of God, we are called to do the work of The Father. In everything that we do, we must remember that we are "doing His work" and this should change the way we look at our own lives.
Unfortunately, in our society today, we have tried to eliminate the role of fatherhood. Looking at this upcoming election, fatherhood is taking on a whole new challenge in states looking to "legalize" homosexual marriages. How can we come to know "true, genuine" fatherhood if the lines become blurred between what a relationship is?
We all must do our part in doing The Father's work here on earth so that we can grow in holiness through the imitation of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, Who is One with The Holy Spirit and The Father. Take care and God Bless.
