Matthew 8:1-4
When Jesus came down from the mountain, great crowds followed him. And then a leper approached, did him homage, and said, "Lord, if you wish, you can make me clean." He stretched out his hand, touched him, and said, "I will do it. Be made clean."
His leprosy was cleansed immediately. Then Jesus said to him, "See that you tell no one, but go show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses prescribed; that will be proof for them."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for an end to abortion.
How many times do we approach God in prayer with humility? While contemplating on today's reading, I was struck with the words, "if You wish." His statement reflects his obedience to God's will, just as Mary proclaimed, "be it done unto me according to Thy word." Just as Jesus proclaimed, "Not as I will, but as You will, Father."
It should be a challenge to us today in our own faith journey and our own prayer life. It should remind us that we need to unify our will to the will of The Father by dying to ourselves.
Today, praise God for the gift of free will we have to choose to be obedient to Him. Take care and God Bless.
