Luke 8:19-21
The mother of Jesus and his brothers came to him but were unable to join him because of the crowd. He was told, "Your mother and your brothers are standing outside and they wish to see you." He said to them in reply, "My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and act on it."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for an end to abortion and the use of contraception.
"Let it be done unto me according to thy word." What better example of today's reading do we have than Mary's fiat!
Jesus invites us to share in this great joy: the joy of obedience. It is a joy that we can all participate in. In the same way that Mary was given the invitation to "hear the word of God and act on it," Christ calls us.
As I think about His call, I have to wonder how often do I miss His invitation because I am too busy or because my mind is too busy. I have to wonder if I miss His invitation because I'm too busy thinking about what I want versus opening my heart to what He wants.
Praise God this day for His invitation to "hear His word and act on it." Take care and God Bless.
