Thursday in the First Week of Advent
Matthew 7:21, 24-27

Jesus said to his disciples: "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.

"Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock. And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for an end to the use of contraception.

--
Infant, Treasure of grace, have mercy on us.
Infant, Fountain of love, have mercy on us.
--

It is one to realize the gift that Jesus is. We see two images of Christ: treasure and fountain. Both of those things invoke images of abundance... Jesus is an abundant gift to each of us in our own lives.

Do we really see Christ as the treasure that He is? In today's reading, Christ calls us to "act." Christ is a gift to everyone, but the fool sees the gift that Christ is and does nothing. He does not change. He does not act.

This past Sunday, I was in Church praying in solitude and I was struck with multitude of thoughts that distracted me from prayer. Tired of trying to pray, I reached for a prayer of obedience: The Our Father. Christ did not give us this prayer to take away our freedom in our prayers. Rather, Christ gave us this prayer to free us to pray to Our Father.

Reflecting upon the Our Father, how much more can Christ free us? We must act upon the treasure that we have been given: Christ, our Treasure of Grace and our Fountain of Love. Take care and God Bless.
