Luke 6:36-38
Jesus said to his disciples: "Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
"Stop judging and you will not be judged. Stop condemning and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven. Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for the new Phoenix Diocese men's ministry that is trying to get started, for a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
God created us with free will, and God in His goodness chose to have no power over that free will. Instead, He chose to give us the opportunity to choose His ways. He gives us the opportunity to choose true, authentic Christian charity, and He offers gives us today's reading to see what it means to practice true, authentic Christian charity.
When we look at the examples today, we see glimpses of Christ within each call to Christian charity: being merciful, stop judging, stop condemning, forgive, and giving. We see in today's reading a blueprint to begin practicing the Christian way of charity, and it begins with our own free will. We are ultimately responsible for the way we live our call to holiness and God will never take that away from us. Take care and God Bless.
