Wednesday in the Third Week of Advent
Matthew 11:28-30

Jesus said to the crowds: "Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those in the military who are overseas and away from their families. May God bring them back safely.

There's a friend of mine who I like to joke around with. I tell him that whenever we go into a guitar store, it's like bringing Bruce Lee to a fight. You know that you aren't quite in the same league talent wise, but in a way it's okay. One, because it's an opportunity to learn, and two, because it's a security blanket. Knowing Bruce Lee "has your back" almost takes some of the worry out of going into the fight.

Almost.

When we pray and give our "burdens" to Our Lord, we give ourselves the chance to live in the freedom of knowing that God will take care of us. How often do we forget that we have access to this "supernatural" power we call prayer? How often do we forget that the trials that we go through aren't meant for us to bear alone?

Last night, I was talking to a good friend of mine, and she reminded me (in this time of great stress) that if you need God to do something, ask Him. It's simple in words, but we forget when we go into "defensive" or "survival" mode.

Today, pray knowing that you are not going through these trials alone. Pray with full confidence for there is something greater than Bruce Lee here. Take care and God Bless.
