John 6: 35-40
Jesus said to the crowds, "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst. But I told you that although you have seen me, you do not believe. Everything that the Father gives me will come to me, and I will not reject anyone who comes to me, because I came down from heaven not to do my own will but the will of the one who sent me. And this is the will of the one who sent me, that I should not lose anything of what he gave me, but that I should raise it on the last day. For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him may have eternal life, and I shall raise him on the last day."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for the repose of the soul my friend's grandmother who passed away yesterday (she was the prayer intention for yesterday).
Often times, I don't think much about the correlation between the reading and the prayer intention. In today's reading, the correlation is obvious.
Looking at the correlation, I see the importance of allowing my life to point to Christ. I want my family and friends to go to heaven. When someone I know passes away, I want to know that their choice is to be with Christ versus being away from Him. When I pass away, I pray that my choice is to be with Him, and I would like to ask for your prayers when my time on earth is done, for I know that I'll need it.
Let us make the choice today to be with heaven and to point all we know to Christ because that is the way we are called to love. Take care and God Bless.
