Wednesday in the First Week of Advent
Isaiah 25:6-10a

On this mountain the LORD of hosts
will provide for all peoples
A feast of rich food and choice wines,
juicy, rich food and pure, choice wines.
On this mountain he will destroy
the veil that veils all peoples,
The web that is woven over all nations;
he will destroy death forever.
The Lord GOD will wipe away
the tears from all faces;
The reproach of his people he will remove
from the whole earth; for the LORD has spoken.

On that day it will be said:
"Behold our God, to whom we looked to save us!
This is the LORD for whom we looked;
let us rejoice and be glad that he has saved us!"
For the hand of the LORD will rest on this mountain.

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for God's providence for those affected by the typhoon in the Philippines.

How many time does the word "will" appear in today's reading? Seven.

Why do I bring this up? Is it because there's some strange theological meaning in today's reading that points to the exact day that Christ will come again? No.

I bring this up because this is what God wants for us:
... will provide
... will destroy the veil
... will destroy death (etc.)

We are looking at the desires of The Father's heart fulfilled through Jesus Christ. It's hard to imagine that these things are being fulfilled in your life now with all the struggles that you are going through. I wish that today's reading would have included, "I will protect you from all viruses that will get you sick when your immune system is down." Well, maybe that's more the desire of MY heart versus the heart of The LORD.

In any case, today we can rejoice in knowing that God longs to free us from the slavery of sin and death so that we may rejoice in heaven with Him. Rejoice! Take care and God Bless.
