Matthew 10: 16-23
Jesus said to his Apostles: "Behold, I am sending you like sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and simple as doves. But beware of men, for they will hand you over to courts and scourge you in their synagogues, and you will be led before governors and kings for my sake as a witness before them and the pagans. When they hand you over, do not worry about how you are to speak or what you are to say. You will be given at that moment what you are to say. For it will not be you who speak but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you. Brother will hand over brother to death, and the father his child; children will rise up against parents and have them put to death. You will be hated by all because of my name, but whoever endures to the end will be saved. When they persecute you in one town, flee to another. Amen, I say to you, you will not finish the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes."

Today's prayer intention is for the continued war going on in the Middle East, that there will be a peaceful resolution and that our troops can return home safely.
The more I hear about Jesus' Proclamation of the Kingdom through the eyes of Matthew, the more I hear everything spoken through the experience of Matthew.
Do you remember when you were in school and they told you certain things about what it would be like in your profession? Certain things stick out at you regarding your education because of experience. The more you experience, the more the teaching is affirmed.
St. Matthew must have been through some times. We see through His eyes what it was like to proclaim the Good News. He recalls being sent "like sheep in the midst of wolves." He remembers what it was like to try to proclaim the Good News in this world. It's not going to be easy, and it will never be easy because Satan has taken such a strong hold of many. We must all be committed to proclaiming and living The Truth because of this fact. Satan cannot win, and you are a solider that will be very important in that victory. It is now time to go forth and proclaim the Good News.
