Luke 17: 1-6

Jesus said to his disciples, "Things that cause sin will inevitably occur, but woe to the one through whom they occur. It would be better for him if a millstone were put around his neck and he be thrown into the sea than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin. Be on your guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. And if he wrongs you seven times in one day and returns to you seven times saying, 'I am sorry,' you should forgive him."

And the Apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith." The Lord replied, "If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it would obey you."

Dawg's Thought:

Today's prayer intention - for the repose of the soul of Anacorito Salvacion.

"Things that will cause sin will inevitably occur, but woe to the one through whom they occur ..."

The evil one chose not to serve, and through his lies, sin entered into the world. He had the choice to serve God or not to serve, and his choice led him out of the splendor of heaven.

I know that we have the same choice to say to God, "I will not serve," but it comes in subtle ways. Do we serve God by defending His ways in the way we vote? Do we serve God in how charitable we are to the poor before us? Do we serve God by desiring holiness for our brothers and sisters around us?

"It would be better for him if a millstone were put around his neck and he be thrown into the sea ..."

Choose to serve God while we have the opportunity. The image of a millstone around my neck and being tossed into the sea makes me think that my ability to choose to serve God will be gone. We can serve Him now; this is not the "practice run" as the evil one would rather you believe.

Lord, Jesus, in the same way You laid down your life in obedience to the Father,
helps us to lay down our lives while we have the opportunity to choose Your ways.

Take care and God Bless.
