Luke 4:38-44
After Jesus left the synagogue, he entered the house of Simon. Simon's mother-in-law was afflicted with a severe fever, and they interceded with him about her. He stood over her, rebuked the fever, and it left her. She got up immediately and waited on them.
At sunset, all who had people sick with various diseases brought them to him. He laid his hands on each of them and cured them. And demons also came out from many, shouting, "You are the Son of God." But he rebuked them and did not allow them to speak because they knew that he was the Christ.
At daybreak, Jesus left and went to a deserted place. The crowds went looking for him, and when they came to him, they tried to prevent him from leaving them. But he said to them, "To the other towns also I must proclaim the good news of the Kingdom of God, because for this purpose I have been sent." And he was preaching in the synagogues of Judea.
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for those affected by Hurricane Felix.
I'll admit it: when it comes to saying I trust in God, I can say it but I sure don't do it.
It's easy for me to glance over the miracles found throughout the Gospels and say to myself, "oh, another miracle." I do it more often than I want to admit. In fact, I did it as I was reading through today's reading.
What it boils down to, though, is that in today's reading, this is Jesus Christ Who is healing those who are sick. As I contemplated it for a while (after blowing it off for a while) it made me want to cry out to God and trust my weaknesses and my faults to Him. It's hard enough living with our own brokenness. If you're like me, brokenness consumes your thoughts causing anxiety.
We can let it cause anxiety in our lives or we can call out to Christ through it.
Praise God for your brokenness today, for through it, we can grow closer to Christ Who desires to heal and restore us through His mercy. Take care and God Bless.
