Mark 1: 29-39

On leaving the synagogue Jesus entered the house of Simon and Andrew with James and John. Simon's mother-in-law lay sick with a fever. They immediately told him about her. He approached, grasped her hand, and helped her up. Then the fever left her and she waited on them.

When it was evening, after sunset, they brought to him all who were ill or possessed by demons. The whole town was gathered at the door. He cured many who were sick with various diseases, and he drove out many demons, not permitting them to speak because they knew him.

Rising very early before dawn, he left and went off to a deserted place, where he prayed. Simon and those who were with him pursued him and on finding him said, "Everyone is looking for you." He told them, "Let us go on to the nearby villages that I may preach there also. For this purpose have I come." So he went into their synagogues, preaching and driving out demons throughout the whole of Galilee.

Dawg's Thought:

Today's prayer intention - for an end to abortion and the use of contraception.

At first, we see a micro view of the healing power of Jesus in the healing Simon mother-in-law. From there, we see an area view and then a macro view.

At the heart of each encounter with Christ is the micro view that we see. It is in this micro view that we encounter our own individual suffering and struggles. It is in this micro view that we seek Christ in our weakness and pain. It is in this micro view that we can grow in love and trust in Our Lord, Jesus Christ.

It is also this love and trust ... this calling out through our weakness and pain ... this awareness of suffering and struggles that we go forth to love and serve Our Lord. It is in the awareness of God's providence through our encounter with Christ that we can grow in compassion for our neighbor. We can grow in love Our Lord through the participation in His work.

Let us work together as a Church in the mission of Our Lord, Who calls us and heals us on a micro level, and calls us and provides for us on a macro level. Take care and God Bless.
