Matthew 7:6, 12-14
Jesus said to his disciples: "Do not give what is holy to dogs, or throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them underfoot, and turn and tear you to pieces.
"Do to others whatever you would have them do to you. This is the Law and the Prophets.
"Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many. How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life. And those who find it are few."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for those who are without shelter from the brutal summer heat, that they may have mercy shown to them.
We all are used to things being easy: fast food... instant messaging... child care for 6 week olds...
Go through a narrow gate? It's hard enough waiting in line at the grocery store behind someone who has a cartload of items. It's hard enough driving behind a car that is *gasp* driving the speed limit.
We live in a society that tries to race past suffering. Who needs the sacrament of marriage in order to enjoy the pleasure of sex? Who needs love the poor when you already know in your hearts that they're going to use any charitable act to buy alcohol or drugs? Who needs to love their neighbor when they have nicer things than you?
Christ's call to us to enter through the narrow gate is radical, but through Him, with Him and in Him, it will lead us to heaven. Take care and God Bless.
