Luke 9:1-6
Jesus summoned the Twelve and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick. He said to them, "Take nothing for the journey, neither walking stick, nor sack, nor food, nor money, and let no one take a second tunic. Whatever house you enter, stay there and leave from there. And as for those who do not welcome you, when you leave that town, shake the dust from your feet in testimony against them." Then they set out and went from village to village proclaiming the good news and curing diseases everywhere.
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for a peaceful resolution to the Middle East conflict.
Something happened to me this morning as I contemplated the last Dawg's thought that went out. I thought about how obedience really is not thinking about the things that you "can't do." Rather, it truly is about "acting on" God's will being communicated.
In today's Gospel reading, the disciples just went out and did what they were called to do: go forth!
In the same sense, we have to be willing to act. Willing to act in the form of abstaining. Willing to act in the form of acts of charity.
However we are called to act, we must strive for obedience to God first. Obedience in acting. Obedience in serving. Obedience in abstaining. We must strive for obedience! Take care and God Bless.
