Matthew 13: 1-9
On that day, Jesus went out of the house and sat down by the sea. Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat down, and the whole crowd stood along the shore. And he spoke to them at length in parables, saying: "A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell on the path, and birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky ground, where it had little soil. It sprang up at once because the soil was not deep, and when the sun rose it was scorched, and it withered for lack of roots. Some seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it. But some seed fell on rich soil, and produced fruit, a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold. Whoever has ears ought to hear."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for the safety of those who are traveling this summer.
We are challenged by today's reading to look at our lives and see how willing we are to receive the Word of God. Through today's reading, we see that the Word of God is lost when it doesn't find root. We must be willing to allow God's grace, in His Word, to penetrate our being and transform us. If we assume that Our Faith has no more to offer us, Our Faith will not offer you any more. If you know and accept that we need to constantly change the way we hear and live out God's Word, then we will truly be fruitful and pleasing in the eyes of God.
Therefore, I ask of you this day to make a commitment to learning more about God though hearing and living these sacred scriptures. Remember that we can never know enough about God's love and mercy for us. Take care and God Bless.
