Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul
Matthew 16:13-19

When Jesus went into the region of Caesarea Philippi he asked his disciples, "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?" They replied, "Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets." He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Simon Peter said in reply, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Jesus said to him in reply, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the Kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for the safety and protection of those who are traveling.

Today in the Church we celebrate the Solemnity of Ss. Peter and Paul.

Who do you say that I AM?

Ss. Peter and Paul both gave testimony to Who Christ is. In fact, their lives was the ultimate act of preaching Who Christ is. Before time began, each was chosen to testify to Whom God is.

Before time began, you were chosen to testify to Whom God is. You have been set apart by God to be a saint. While none of us (most likely) won't be called to be in the Chair of Peter, we all share in the responsibility of proclaiming the Good News of Who Christ is. We share this responsibility by allowing God to work within us, as Peter allowed The Father to reveal Who Christ is. For each of us, it is only through Christ, Who makes all things new... Who is the Savior of the world... Who died on the cross that we may be forgiven... It's only through Christ that we may be what we have been created for: saints. Take care and God Bless.
