Feast of St. Thomas the Apostle
John 20:24-29

Thomas, called Didymus, one of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples said to him, "We have seen the Lord." But Thomas said to them, "Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger into the nail marks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe." Now a week later his disciples were again inside and Thomas was with them. Jesus came, although the doors were locked, and stood in their midst and said, "Peace be with you." Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe." Thomas answered and said to him, "My Lord and my God!" Jesus said to him, "Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those who suffer from cancer.

Today is the Feast of St. Thomas the Apostle.

There is a difference between knowing that God exists and feeling that God exists. Through faith, when someone asks us if God exists, we can say "it's true." Through faith, when someone asks us if Jesus Christ has risen from the dead, we can say, "it's true."

We don't know why St. Thomas' heart was hardened when he heard the news of Christ being raised from the dead. What we do know is that he came to believe by seeing Our Lord and touching His wounds. What we also know is that he went on to become a martyr, shedding his blood through faith. This is an incredible miracle that has happened to his heart.

Through his martyrdom, he declared that Jesus Christ died and rose from the dead for our sins. May our knowledge of Christ allow us to give our lives to Our Lord and Our God as well. Take care and God Bless.
