Matthew 13: 1-9

On that day, Jesus went out of the house and sat down by the sea. Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat down, and the whole crowd stood along the shore. And he spoke to them at length in parables, saying: "A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell on the path, and birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky ground, where it had little soil. It sprang up at once because the soil was not deep, and when the sun rose it was scorched, and it withered for lack of roots. Some seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it. But some seed fell on rich soil, and produced fruit, a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold. Whoever has ears ought to hear."

Dawg's Thought:

Today's prayer intention - for those who are persecuted for their faith.

Part of my job as an web guy is that I have to take large amounts of information and make it so that people can process the information. It is all about making it easy for people to get the point of what a website is about at a glance.

Yet, I have heard some studies that suggest that we have been conditioned to ignore critical thinking. If we need to find an answer, we can simply type it into Google. If we need to send someone a message, we can simply text something that resembles a conversation. How many of the phone numbers on your cell phone do you know by heart?

What seems dangerous is do we expect the same from God? Have we conditioned ourselves away from being able to meditate on God's word? Have we conditioned ourselves away from being still before Our Lord? Have we conditioned ourselves to receive things so instantaneously that our faith has shallow roots?

One of the things that I appreciate about what I do is that it still keeps my mind active. I still have to wade through information and I still have to think about how to lay the information out in an easy to use format.

How many Bibles and Catechisms have collected dust? How many writings of the great Saints remain untouched in bookstores? Are we waiting for "Faith 2.0" or are we embracing the work needed to live our call to holiness right now? Is our faith a three and a half, polished pop song or does it embrace the complexities and dynamics of a fine Mozart piece?

Is our prayer something that can fit in a Google search box? If so, are we simply clicking on the first result? If this is the case, is it any wonder why so many have changed their "status"?

Isn't it time that we look at our "status" and see if we are "friends" with Our Lord virtually or are we truly "friends" personally. Take care and God Bless.
