Mark 9:41-50
Jesus said to his disciples: "Anyone who gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ, amen, I say to you, will surely not lose his reward.
"Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were put around his neck and he were thrown into the sea. If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed than with two hands to go into Gehenna, into the unquenchable fire. And if your foot causes you to sin, cut if off. It is better for you to enter into life crippled than with two feet to be thrown into Gehenna. And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. Better for you to enter into the Kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into Gehenna, where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.
"Everyone will be salted with fire. Salt is good, but if salt becomes insipid, with what will you restore its flavor? Keep salt in yourselves and you will have peace with one another."

Today's prayer intention is in thanksgiving for the law passed in South Dakota regarding making abortion illegal.
"I am not a role model..."
Charles Barkley doesn't want to be one. Many other highly visible people don't want to be one. Why? What would they have to lose?
How about eternal life?
It's not only your soul at stake. There are many other souls that may be looking at you for a sense of what a life with Christ is like. In fact, I know there are. There are many people out there who are looking for true, authentic joy and through Christ, we can be that mirror that reflects the joy of Christ to others who look to the lies for joy and fulfillment.
My girlfriend once told me, "why is it that we have so many struggles when some of my friends aren't married and live together?" I opened my mouth and what came out was, "it's because we're trying to live our relationship for Christ and Satan wants to tear that apart."
Satan wants sin to succeed. He will let sin prosper and flourish so that others may follow suit and find a false sense of joy. We need to be armed: The Sacraments, Scripture, Prayer, Christian Community... all these things help us to come to know what sin is so that our lives won't preach sin.
My brothers and sisters, I'm sorry for being long winded, but the battle is now and many, many, many souls, including our own, are in jeopardy. Stop holding on to the things that lead you to sin and set your internal GPS system set on eternal life in heaven. Take care and God Bless.
