John 16:16-20
Jesus said to his disciples: "A little while and you will no longer see me, and again a little while later and you will see me." So some of his disciples said to one another, "What does this mean that he is saying to us, 'A little while and you will not see me, and again a little while and you will see me,' and 'Because I am going to the Father'?" So they said, "What is this 'little while' of which he speaks? We do not know what he means." Jesus knew that they wanted to ask him, so he said to them, "Are you discussing with one another what I said, 'A little while and you will not see me, and again a little while and you will see me'? Amen, amen, I say to you, you will weep and mourn, while the world rejoices; you will grieve, but your grief will become joy."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life.
The joy of resurrection is meant for us.
In our times of grief and in our times of joy, the resurrection of Jesus is meant for us. It wasn't meant for just the disciples. It wasn't meant for God the Father. It wasn't meant for Jesus Himself. It was meant for you.
God wants us to experience that joy, and it's easy to dismiss today's reading as "something that's in the past... we know the outcome." The resurrection was meant for us. Our hope in our despair. Our hope when we are joyful. The joy of the resurrection was made for us.
Rejoice, child of God, for Christ is risen! Take care and God Bless.
