Matthew 25: 33-40

He will place the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. Then the king will say to those on his right, "Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me." Then the righteous will answer him and say, "Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?" And the king will say to them in reply, "Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for a special intention.

It's easier to believe the notion that once you declare in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord, then you will be saved. In today's reading, Jesus reminds us that it's just not that easy.

Everyone knows the second part of today's reading. It takes more that just believing that Jesus is Our Savior. That faith should manifest itself in a desire to serve. If we are not willing to love our neighbor, then what does Christ's crucifixion mean to you? What does Christ's incarnation mean to you?

Serving the poor is the responsibility of the faithful because when we serve the poor, we serve The One Who served us in our unworthiness. It is our joy to imitate Our Lord, to have the opportunity to love like Our Lord, hoping to one day be with Our Lord in Heaven. Take care and God Bless.
