Friday in the First Week of Adevnt
Matthew 9: 27-31

As Jesus passed by, two blind men followed him, crying out, "Son of David, have pity on us!" When he entered the house, the blind men approached him and Jesus said to them, "Do you believe that I can do this?" "Yes, Lord," they said to him. Then he touched their eyes and said, "Let it be done for you according to your faith." And their eyes were opened. Jesus warned them sternly, "See that no one knows about this." But they went out and spread word of him through all that land.

Dawg's Thought:

Today's prayer intention - for those who are unemployed.

It was Thanksgiving here in the US last week. It's a time to remember your blessings.

How many people, do you think, had a word of thanksgiving for their disability or their disease? How many people, do you think, had a word of thanksgiving for someone who has hurt them?

I never had a chance to say my thanks around the Thanksgiving dinner table. I was the best man a friend's wedding this past weekend and I was out running errands when thanks were being asked about.

So, here's is a brief list of things I am thankful for this past year ...

- I am thankful for my job situation, through which my tithe became more of an act of faith versus an opportunity of pride.

- I am thankful for the different medical procedures I have had to endure over the past year, because it made me turn to God for answers.

- I am thankful for the opportunities I had where I was able to see the gravity of my sins because I was blind and now it is able to see.

... I am thankful for a lot of other things as well. I'm sure that the blind men in today's reading were thankful when they were healed. Yet, what they may not have realized is that it was their blindness that they were able to encounter Christ. The depth of their sorrow was reflected in the overflow of their joy.

As we are in this season of preparation, let us look at the "gifts" in our lives that we can bring to Christ. Is there some physical pain that you're enduring? Are you going through some financial hardship? Are you at a point in your life where you are in dire need of direction from God?

Rejoice that God has blessed you with this hardship, for through it, we will grow in holiness in the turning of our hearts to The Lord. Take care and God Bless.
