Matthew 5:17-19
Jesus said to his disciples: "Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place. Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the Kingdom of heaven. But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments will be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven."
Dawg's thought:
From a friend:
"my sis-in-law amy was submitted last night for high blood and bleeding. about 11:00pm last night her blood pressure didn't reduce enough so the doctors decided to induce labor and won't know until about noon today if she progressed enough to and start labor. so if you could pray for my sis-in-law and baby ethan."
It must be natural to fear change, or at least what appears to be a change. Christ's words were radical then and it's just as radical today. On one hand you have the people in today's Gospel reading who were dependent on the law. In our society today, many people are dependent on their "informed" conscience liberated through education.
We can depend on many things, but if you want to truly be great, depend on God. Know God's law like the people in today's reading because it reveals what sin is. Educate yourself on the ways of God through the scriptures so that you can have a truly "formed" conscience. All these things help us to grow in our dependence of God versus our dependence of knowledge of the law or education.
Be obedient to God and His commandments and teach others to do the same, and know that you are taking part in something truly great. Take care and God Bless.
