Luke 15: 1-10

The tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to listen to Jesus, but the Pharisees and scribes began to complain, saying, "This man welcomes sinners and eats with them." So Jesus addressed this parable to them. "What man among you having a hundred sheep and losing one of them would not leave the ninety-nine in the desert and go after the lost one until he finds it? And when he does find it, he sets it on his shoulders with great joy and, upon his arrival home, he calls together his friends and neighbors and says to them, "Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep." I tell you, in just the same way there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance.

"Or what woman having ten coins and losing one would not light a lamp and sweep the house, searching carefully until she finds it? And when she does find it, she calls together her friends and neighbors and says to them, "Rejoice with me because I have found the coin that I lost." In just the same way, I tell you, there will be rejoicing among the angels of God over one sinner who repents."

Dawg's Thought:

Today's prayer intention - for the repose of the souls of Michael and Mary Kearney.

" ... there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance."

When you wait in the line for confession, it never feels like a joyful moment. Rather, it feels, well, like a failure.

Yet, standing in that line takes a lot of courage and a lot of trust. It takes great faith to be in that line to not only acknowledge your sins, but to also repent of them. What better way to acknowledge God's power and dominion but to stand in a line that many Saints have stood in.

It takes great courage to stand before Our Lord and acknowledge our sins here on earth. What will happen when we are before Our Lord and He acknowledges our sins at our judgement? At that moment, I can imagine being grateful for the times I felt embarrassed and ashamed in a line of sinners striving to be saints.

How can the Saints not find joy in the sinner who acknowledges and confesses their sins? They know the path we walked. They have stood in the line that we stand in, knowing that it is God Who forgives us. They have received the grace of forgiveness.

God rejoices in you. Let us praise Him with more than our singing; let us praise Him with our humility and our repentance. Take care and God Bless.
