Ecclesiastes 3:1-11
There is an appointed time for everything, and a time for every thing under the heavens. A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to uproot the plant. A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to tear down, and a time to build. A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance. A time to scatter stones, and a time to gather them; a time to embrace, and a time to be far from embraces. A time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away. A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to be silent, and a time to speak. A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
What advantage has the worker from his toil? I have considered the task that God has appointed for the sons of men to be busied about. He has made everything appropriate to its time, and has put the timeless into their hearts, without man's ever discovering, from beginning to end, the work which God has done.
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for artists to point toward God versus pointing others away from truth.
"To visit the sick"
Time. It was created by God, and therefore it is good (of course, it's not "very good" because that refers to you). Time is something we complain that we never have enough of, or have too much of, depending on how well you have managed this creation. We keep track of it, knowing that we could never contain it, and that we don't control it. We know that God makes it continue to progress, second by second.
There is an appointed time for everything, and every second of time that has been given to us has been given as a gift to discover His goodness and to proclaim His greatness. There are many who need to hear of His greatness.
When Christ came into this world, He came for the sick. He came to proclaim the Good News to each and every one of us who are broken and in need of healing. When we use our time to be present to those who are sick, and tend to the needs of those who are sick, we imitate Christ in His mercy that He shows to us. In this way, we can come to understand Christ's mercy when He came for each of us 2000 years ago. There was an appointed time for Christ to give Himself to the sick, and there is an appointed time for us to give of ourselves to be Christ to others in the sick and the broken. Take care and God Bless.
