Luke 9:1-6

Jesus summoned the Twelve and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick. He said to them, "Take nothing for the journey, neither walking stick, nor sack, nor food, nor money, and let no one take a second tunic. Whatever house you enter, stay there and leave from there. And as for those who do not welcome you, when you leave that town, shake the dust from your feet in testimony against them." Then they set out and went from village to village proclaiming the Good News and curing diseases everywhere.

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those who speak out against injustice, especially for those who speak to protect life from conception to natural death. May God grant them peace in their fear, fully trusting in Him Who is Truth.

"To clothe the naked."

In today's reading, we see Christ telling the disciples to take only what they need as they proclaim the Good News.

As we are called to proclaim the Good News, we are called to take only what we need. There are many things that sit in our closets that go unused. We say that we're going to need it later on, but how often do those boxes go unpacked?

Sure, we can talk about clothes, but what other earthly attachments do we hold onto that holds us back from showing mercy? How do we protect the naked coming from the womb? How do we protect the naked who are beneath rotting clothes? What is holding us back from protecting the dignity of human being and human life?

Mercy is not easy. To be merciful is to sacrifice things and giving your treasure back to God. We must be willing to protect the dignity of all humans, through our sacrifice of time and treasure. Take care and God Bless.
