Isaiah 49:1-6

Hear me, O coastlands,
listen, O distant peoples.
The LORD called me from birth,
from my mother's womb he gave me my name.
He made of me a sharp-edged sword
and concealed me in the shadow of his arm.
He made me a polished arrow,
in his quiver he hid me.
You are my servant, he said to me,
Israel, through whom I show my glory.

Though I thought I had toiled in vain,
and for nothing, uselessly, spent my strength,
yet my reward is with the LORD,
my recompense is with my God.
For now the LORD has spoken
who formed me as his servant from the womb,
that Jacob may be brought back to him
and Israel gathered to him;
and I am made glorious in the sight of the LORD,
and my God is now my strength!
It is too little, he says, for you to be my servant,
to raise up the tribes of Jacob,
and restore the survivors of Israel;
I will make you a light to the nations,
that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.

Dawg's thought:

Have you ever taken a look back at your life to see how God has called you?

Even before you were conceived in your mother's womb, God had a calling for you. What talents has God blessed you with? What moves you to tears? What weaknesses do you have? How has God called you from the moment of your conception?

My brothers and sisters, we are the saints of this modern day. We have been "set aside" by the Lord for the Lord, and we all need to be reminded of that from time to time. We need to be reminded that our bodies have been "set aside" for the Lord, and the Lord will be glorified through our bodies. We need to be reminded that our talents have been "set aside" for the Lord, and the Gospel message will be spread through our talents. We need to be reminded that our souls have been "set aside" for the Lord because God loves us and wants us to be with Him. We have been "set aside," which is at the root of the word "saint" and "holy."

Brothers and sisters, know that you are beautiful. Know that the beauty of God is meant to shine through you on those who are in darkness. There is a lot of darkness out there. There is a lot of people who are not living their lives "set aside" for the Lord. May our examples be a loving testimony of the greatness and beauty of Our Lord. May we live our lives in true fidelity to the Lord who "formed us as His servants from the womb." May we continue to be a light to the nations. Take care and God Bless.
