Wednesday in the Fourth Week in Advent
Luke 1:39-45

Mary set out in those days and traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah, where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, "Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for a special intention.

The Visitation. The fruit of this decade of the Rosary is "Love of neighbor." When praying the mystery, it's easy to contemplate Mary's love for Elizabeth and her desire to help her late in her pregnancy. It's also easy to contemplate the incarnation of Christ in the womb of Mary.

The one thing that reading today's Gospel passage brought out is Elizabeth's response. Her words affirm her cousin, Mary, by declaring who she is:

- Blessed are you
- Blessed is the Fruit of your womb
- The mother of my Lord
- Blessed are you who believed

Reading through today's reading I was struck with Elizabeth's loving response to Mary's loving act. May today's reading be a good reminder that we are called to love our neighbor as Mary loved Elizabeth and Elizabeth loved Mary. Take care and God Bless.
