Matthew 5:27-32
Jesus said to his disciples: "You have heard that it was said, You shall not commit adultery. But I say to you, everyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one of your members than to have your whole body thrown into Gehenna. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one of your members than to have your whole body go into Gehenna.
"It was also said, Whoever divorces his wife must give her a bill of divorce. But I say to you, whoever divorces his wife (unless the marriage is unlawful) causes her to commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for the Mendoza family, for wisdom.
As I'm agonizing writing today's reflection, I looked over at the time. It's almost midnight and lately I haven't been getting much sleep.
I've seen the effects of it, from having to drive more aggressively on the road after getting up later than I wanted to, to not acting with a spirit of charity because I'm getting "cranky" because I'm tired.
What are the things that we have to do to be holy?
We have to do our part in sacrificing and working toward living lives according to God's plan. It's a nice thought to think that one day, God can just say a magic word and we'd be free from sin. We need to cooperate with His grace if we are to live as His people.
What do you have to do today that will help you grow in holiness? Take care and God Bless.
