Luke 17:7-10
Jesus said to the Apostles: "Who among you would say to your servant who has just come in from plowing or tending sheep in the field, 'Come here immediately and take your place at table'? Would he not rather say to him, 'Prepare something for me to eat. Put on your apron and wait on me while I eat and drink. You may eat and drink when I am finished'? Is he grateful to that servant because he did what was commanded? So should it be with you. When you have done all you have been commanded, say, 'We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do.'"
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is in thanksgiving for married couples in your life who have been good examples for you.
Just Be Faithful
What a great Gospel reading today! To serve The Lord is our honor. We do not serve Our Lord looking for thanksgiving, but rather we serve Our Lord because we are thankful. We do not serve Our Lord seeking payment for to serve Our Lord is our payment.
It is an honor that this world will never understand, and therefore it is an honor that we will struggle with understanding as well. It's hard to think about just loving as the reward itself because we want to be loved back. Yet, Christ calls us to love. He does not call us to seek payment or demand that we are loved in return. He only calls us to love. Our faithfulness to His commands is our reward and we must be eternally thankful for the grace and the privilege of serving Our Lord. Take care and God Bless.
