John 15:26—16:4a
Jesus said to his disciples: "When the Advocate comes whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, he will testify to me. And you also testify, because you have been with me from the beginning.
"I have told you this so that you may not fall away. They will expel you from the synagogues; in fact, the hour is coming when everyone who kills you will think he is offering worship to God. They will do this because they have not known either the Father or me. I have told you this so that when their hour comes you may remember that I told you."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for an end to the use of contraception, and for greater education efforts to promote the joys of chastity.
I remember the image of rejoicing in the streets after 9/11. I remember the emotions of confusion, anger and sadness. I remember thinking about why someone would do this?
Our response to injustice may vary. Our response to suffering may vary. For the Christian, although we may feel alone in our suffering, we are never alone. We have an Advocate: The Holy Spirit. We have Someone Who guides us in our times of confusion so that we may not "fall away."
Just like The Father and The Son, The Holy Spirit will never take our free will from us. He will never force His will upon us, but rather offers Himself as a Gift. In times of suffering, "Be still and know that He is God" - The Advocate, The Third Person of the Most Holy Trinity: The Holy Spirit. Take care and God Bless.
