Luke 6: 39-42
Jesus told his disciples a parable: "Can a blind person guide a blind person? Will not both fall into a pit? No disciple is superior to the teacher; but when fully trained, every disciple will be like his teacher. Why do you notice the splinter in your brother's eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own? How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me remove that splinter in your eye,' when you do not even notice the wooden beam in your own eye? You hypocrite! Remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter in your brother's eye."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for broken relationships in your life.
We all want to change the world. Partly because the world isn't the way we like it, and partly because of how fallen we are. We all desire perfection, which only belongs to God alone (which points to every person's desire for God).
We are all called to challenge one another, and the Gospel reading does not call us away from this. Rather, today's Gospel reading calls us to challenge ourselves to be better preachers of the Gospel message. We all have free will, and therefore we must all be humble enough to recognize that we all need help and that we all need to change. In this, we can model the change we want to see in this world. The Gospel message will indeed continue to change the world, and you will be the example that brings the Gospel message to this world. Take care and God Bless.
