Luke 12: 49-53
Jesus said to his disciples: "I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing! There is a baptism with which I must be baptized, and how great is my anguish until it is accomplished! Do you think that I have come to establish peace on the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division. From now on a household of five will be divided, three against two and two against three; a father will be divided against his son and a son against his father, a mother against her daughter and a daughter against her mother, a mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law."
Dawg's Thought:
Today's prayer intention - for those who are suffering with cancer.
As I look in the mirror lately, I notice that the hair on my head is getting thinner and more white hairs have appeared. I noticed that my the scar under my nose is healing well. I lot of things are revealed when I look at a mirror.
Truth is like a mirror, revealing things about ourselves that we don't want to see. In fact, sometimes I'd rather not see what is revealed when face to face with the truth.
In an idealistic world, it seems that truth would unify people, but often times, it divides. It's easier to ignore the truth rather than change because of it.
I have a hard time hearing that I am wrong, but in the end, it is oftentimes the one thing that I need to hear in order to be unified, not only with the person who may have pointed out my folly, but mainly to Christ Himself, Who tells us that there will be division.
Yet, it is that division ... that separation ... that awakens someone so that they can strive for true unity in Christ.
Lord, give us the courage
to speak the truth
as You spoke the truth
so that we may all be one in You.
Take care and God Bless.
