1 Timothy 4:12-16

Beloved: Let no one have contempt for your youth, but set an example for those who believe, in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity. Until I arrive, attend to the reading, exhortation, and teaching. Do not neglect the gift you have, which was conferred on you through the prophetic word with the imposition of hands by the presbyterate. Be diligent in these matters, be absorbed in them, so that your progress may be evident to everyone. Attend to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in both tasks, for by doing so you will save both yourself and those who listen to you.

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those who suffer from physical pain everyday due to illness that they may find comfort and healing.

I woke up 3 hours later than I wanted to today, so I figured that I'd reading through this morning's reading, write a quick reflection and be on my way.

So, I read through today's reading... and read through it again... and read through it again... you get the picture.

Lately, I have felt distant from God. It's one of those things that I cannot figure out, and the only thing that I can do at this moment is to continue being faithful and obedient to my God, placing all of my hope in His love. As I read today's reading, I am given hope in knowing that we have all been given a gift to persevere in our faith so that we can be an example to this world. It's not about figuring out where God is, but rather trusting that God is there. This is a gift that we have been given, and in this gift, we are called to continue growing in our faith. These moments are a time for us to grow in faith rather than cowering from it.

Continue to have faith, brothers and sisters, absorbing yourself in it. Be a sponge with your faith rather than a rock. In many ways, a sponge is useless without it's purpose to absorb liquid. In the same way, we are useless if we do not absorb this faith we have been given as a gift. We are useless if we do not get absorbed in God's grace and God's love. We are useless if we do not receive Christ for He gives Himself as a gift. We must be willing to receive this gift just as the sponge has no choice but to absorb liquid. Persevere in faith, brothers and sisters. Take care and God Bless.
