John 14:21-26

Jesus said to his disciples: "Whoever has my commandments and observes them is the one who loves me. Whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and reveal myself to him." Judas, not the Iscariot, said to him, "Master, then what happened that you will reveal yourself to us and not to the world?" Jesus answered and said to him, "Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words; yet the word you hear is not mine but that of the Father who sent me.

"I have told you this while I am with you. The Advocate, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name – he will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for religious vocations.

The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit are one, and in today's reading, we see how the three persons are one. All three strive for the same end (love), and each of the three points to how to love (obedience). As Jesus testifies to Himself, He does not leave out The Father or The Holy Spirit. Rather, each are essential to Who Jesus is as He reveals Who He is and why He took on human flesh and bone.

Just as Jesus points to the unity of The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit, we must strive for unity with Our Lord and unity with The Body of Christ. It is through Jesus that we are united, Who is The Way, The Truth and The Life. All three point to obedience and the "dying of self," and Jesus gives us the greatest example of giving His life in obedience. He did not give His life for His own sake. He gave His Life for our sake. He gave His Life in obedience to will of The Father. He gave His Life so we may have The Holy Spirit.

Let us truly be Christians and follow Our Lord with obedience in union with The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. Take care and God Bless.
