Matthew 13:44-46
Jesus said to his disciples: "The Kingdom of heaven is like a treasure buried in a field, which a person finds and hides again, and out of joy goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. Again, the Kingdom of heaven is like a merchant searching for fine pearls. When he finds a pearl of great price, he goes and sells all that he has and buys it."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for the safety of police officers and fire fighters who serve us and protect us.
What do you treasure? In today's world, there is a "freedom" that people treasure that makes them lose sight of the treasure God offers us in today's reading. Children are dying in the womb for the sake of personal "freedom." People marry and divorce as they wish because they desire their "freedom."
In our world today, there are many "treasures" that will be placed before us that will try to "lure" us away from the treasure of "The Kingdom of heaven." I have been caught in many lures that promised "happiness and freedom" only to wind up back before The Lord begging for His forgiveness in the confessional.
Today, if there are things in your life that are holding you back from giving your life for the sake of The Kingdom of heaven, pray for the grace to die to your own desire. If you can't think of anything that you're holding onto, pray that God may reveal these things to you so that we may all live in the freedom of desiring and pursuing The Kingdom of heaven through the death and resurrection of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Take care and God Bless.
