Romans 15:14-21

I myself am convinced about you, my brothers and sisters, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, and able to admonish one another. But I have written to you rather boldly in some respects to remind you, because of the grace given me by God to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles in performing the priestly service of the Gospel of God, so that the offering up of the Gentiles may be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit. In Christ Jesus, then, I have reason to boast in what pertains to God. For I will not dare to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me to lead the Gentiles to obedience by word and deed, by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God, so that from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum I have finished preaching the Gospel of Christ. Thus I aspire to proclaim the Gospel not where Christ has already been named, so that I do not build on another's foundation, but as it is written:

Those who have never been told of him shall see,
and those who have never heard of him shall understand.

Dawg's thought:

For our legislators and lawmakers that they work for the good of the people they serve.

St. Paul was not afraid to proclaim the Gospel message to anyone. He proclaimed the Gospel message regardless of what they would do to him, what they could do to him or what they didn't do to him. He believed in the Gospel message so much that he was willing to sacrifice everything for the sake of spreading the Good News of the Gospel message... even to places he had never been.

Now, I'm not saying that we should all follow the example of St. Paul here. After all, St. Paul was a man who lived almost 2000 years ago when being Christian could mean your life. In fact, his life was taken because he spread the Gospel. Who wants to follow that example?

I do.

I want to shed my fears so that I can proclaim the Gospel message with no fear to those who are in need of the Gospel message. I want to be forgiven of the sins of my past so that I can go forth with God's grace. I want to trade all my desires so that all I desire is to follow My Lord and My God. I would love to do all these things, but unless I am willing to submit my life to God's will in total surrender, this will never be possible. Our free will is a gift from God to choose Him, and our free will is the gift we use to keep ourselves from Him. We choose to hold onto our life; we do not trust that God will bless us.

Today's reading points us to how great God is, in taking the greatest persecutor of the Church and transforming him into one of the greatest preachers of the Church. May your life proclaim how great God is as well. Take care and God Bless.
