Amos 5:14-15, 21-24

Seek good and not evil,
that you may live;
Then truly will the LORD, the God of hosts,
be with you as you claim!
Hate evil and love good,
and let justice prevail at the gate;
Then it may be that the LORD, the God of hosts,
will have pity on the remnant of Joseph.

I hate, I spurn your feasts, says the LORD,
I take no pleasure in your solemnities;
Your cereal offerings I will not accept,
nor consider your stall-fed peace offerings.
Away with your noisy songs!
I will not listen to the melodies of your harps.
But if you would offer me burnt offerings,
then let justice surge like water,
and goodness like an unfailing stream.

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those who minister to the poor.

I've heard many people use "but I'm Christian" as a means to justify themselves before others. An example would be, "I would never act that way because I'm a Christian," while they slander their fellow brother or sister. It is so much more important to be a Christian in your heart versus being a Christian on your tongue.

The true Christian loves all that is good, including God's commands. It's amazing when I think about all the times I have justified disobeying God because I didn't truly allow God's love and forgiveness to take root in my heart. It's a struggle because the evil one is really good at spinning his evil lies into rationalized thoughts that appear to be truth.

We must constantly "seek good" because when we grow complacent in our knowledge of God and His commands, we fall for Satan's trap, therefore choosing evil. We must never become afraid of knowing to much about Our Lord's ways. We must never become afraid of allowing God to take more control over our lives. We must never settle for an outward faith that proclaims that we are Christian on our tongue and demonstrates we are Christian by showing others how good we are. We are Christian because Christ gave His life for you so that you may know what is true love. Christ gave His life for you so that you can truly see that we really know nothing about God's great goodness and abundance. Rend your hearts to The Lord, and seek what is good. Take care and God Bless.
