Luke 9:51-56

When the days for Jesus to be taken up were fulfilled, he resolutely determined to journey to Jerusalem, and he sent messengers ahead of him. On the way they entered a Samaritan village to prepare for his reception there, but they would not welcome him because the destination of his journey was Jerusalem. When the disciples James and John saw this they asked, "Lord, do you want us to call down fire from heaven to consume them?" Jesus turned and rebuked them, and they journeyed to another village.

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those who are in prison, that they're treated with dignity that God gives to each of us.

"To ransom the captive"

So, due to being busy yesterday, there was a little detour off of the prescribed path, but we're back again.

It's amazing how we can condemn people in our heads because of their sin. When we think of prisoners, we think of people who do bad things, but we are capable of the same bad acts. We are also capable of receiving the same grace that they are capable of receiving.

We may not call fire upon those who have been condemned of doing evil acts, but we may condemn them ourselves, assuming that they are destined for the fire. There is nobody who is safe from "eternal fire" because we are all capable of turning from God.

Who knows how your act of mercy would open the hearts of those who have been condemned of an evil act? All we know is that God came to show us all mercy, even though we didn't deserve it. Let us do the same, knowing that we ourselves do not deserve the mercy Christ showed for us on the cross. Take care and God Bless.
