Luke 9: 18-22
Once when Jesus was praying in solitude, and the disciples were with him, he asked them, "Who do the crowds say that I am?" They said in reply, "John the Baptist; others, Elijah; still others, 'One of the ancient prophets has arisen.'" Then he said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter said in reply, "The Christ of God." He rebuked them and directed them not to tell this to anyone.
He said, "The Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed and on the third day be raised."
Dawg's Thought:
Today's prayer intention - for those who are unemployed.
Who do people say that you are? Most likely, they will come up with an answer that doesn't encompass who you are as a person, just as "the crowds" thought that Jesus was simply a Prophet.
"But who do you say that I am?"
I often pass over what it means to be a child of God. My mom likes to tell me that I am stubborn like my father. I also love to play music and cook, just like him. You can say that people see my father in me.
When I was a child, I had a lot of time to observe my father. I also had a chance to receive correction from him, as well as receiving mercy from him.
It's hard in this world to be able to observe Our Father, but we can know Him through His Son, Jesus. In Jesus, we see and know The Father, and through Christ, we can know what it means to be children of God. We can know who God created us to be. Which makes me wonder, if we truly knew that we are children of God, would we settle for mediocrity? Would we settle to live life in fear? To answer that question, I ask you today: Who do you say that Jesus, Son of the Father, is? Take care and God Bless.
