Galatians 1:6-12

Brothers and sisters: I am amazed that you are so quickly forsaking the one who called you by the grace of Christ for a different gospel (not that there is another). But there are some who are disturbing you and wish to pervert the Gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel other than the one that we preached to you, let that one be accursed! As we have said before, and now I say again, if anyone preaches to you a gospel other than the one that you received, let that one be accursed!

Am I now currying favor with human beings or God? Or am I seeking to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a slave of Christ.

Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the Gospel preached by me is not of human origin. For I did not receive it from a human being, nor was I taught it, but it came through a revelation of Jesus Christ.

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for the safety of travelers this week.

"To adminish the sinner."

"If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a slave of Christ."

* I confess to almighty God, and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have sinned through my own fault in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done, and in what I have failed to do; and I ask blessed Mary, ever virgin, all the angels and saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God. *

One day it struck me during mass: WHAT I HAVE FAILED TO DO.

To admonish the sinner is an act of mercy. It's an act of love that is much greater than being popular (desiring to be loved versus truly loving the other person), being praised (can someone say "pride?"), or being adored (only God is worthy of our adoration).

I confess to all of you that I have sinned in not admonishing the sinner. I have failed to love and I have failed in being merciful. Today's reading asks us a very stern question: "Am I now currying favor with human beings or God?" I'd like to think that I am currying favor with God, but I know that's not always the case. That is why receiving the sacrament of reconciliation is so important. We must see and confess our own sins to know what is sin so that we can admonish others of the same failings that we have fallen for. That is why we must read scripture constantly, so that we know God's will. That is why it is important that we pray unceasingly, so that we have the wisdom to know sin from virtue.

Faith without works is useless. We must be a people of mercy just as we have been shown mercy. Take care and God Bless.
