John 1:35-42

John was standing with two of his disciples, and as he watched Jesus walk by, he said, "Behold, the Lamb of God." The two disciples heard what he said and followed Jesus. Jesus turned and saw them following him and said to them, "What are you looking for?" They said to him, "Rabbi" (which translated means Teacher), "where are you staying?" He said to them, "Come, and you will see." So they went and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day. It was about four in the afternoon. Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two who heard John and followed Jesus. He first found his own brother Simon and told him, "We have found the Messiah," which is translated Christ. Then he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon the son of John; you will be called Cephas," which is translated Peter.

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for the repose of the soul of Ashley Martin, and for comfort for her family.

There is an importance to Christ changing the name of Simon to Peter. It is God's way of saying to Peter, "you are Mine."

Today's prayer intention is a very sad one for me because I knew Ashley, a daughter of a good friend of mine, since she was 7 years old. I know the name that her parents gave to her, but I can only imagine what name Christ has for her. After all, Christ wants us all to be His and it is our own free will that separates us from His desire. We know not the day or time; we do know the calling and hopefully we know Christ. That's about all we can pray for in this short life.

Simon simply obeyed The Lord. That was his worship, and if God wants to change us in order to be His, obedience should be our worship too. Take care and God Bless.
