Mark 16: 15-18
Jesus appeared to the Eleven and said to them: "Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned. These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will drive out demons, they will speak new languages. They will pick up serpents with their hands, and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not harm them. They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."
Dawg's Thought:
Today's prayer intention - for those you know who are in need of healing.
Today in the Church is the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul.
"In my name ... "
I remember a long time ago, after I graduated from high school, I was at a friend's house. I had sprained my ankle playing basketball so my friend was sitting with me as everyone else was playing.
He turned to me and said, "if only I had the faith to heal you, I would do it." As we talked about it, he told me how he heard that if you said to be healed "in Jesus' name" then healing could come.
My ankle never got healed that night because he wasn't sure that he had enough faith.
I wonder about this. If we are not sure if we have enough faith, are we then questioning the faith given to us by a perfect God? If we fear that we will not achieve the desired outcome, do we trust that if God doesn't choose to heal someone then it IS His mercy and love?
If we have the fear of the result, does that diminish our trust? If our trust has been diminished, does that limit how we go forth?
If we fear that our desired result will not come to fruition, doesn't that free us from the burden of a desired result? After all, I do know how many times the prayer intention for Dawg's thought has been "for an end to abortion and the use of contraception." Unfortunately, millions are still dying, and millions are still praying. If we let up because we haven't seen the results yet ...
We cannot stop. We cannot let up. We go forth, in the name of Jesus, to proclaim the Gospel to every creature, from conception to natural death.
We go forth because Jesus said so.
Take care and God Bless.
