Luke 6:36-38
Jesus said to his disciples: "Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. Stop judging and you will not be judged. Stop condemning and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven. Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you."
Dawg's thought:
Today's prayer intention is for the continued recovery of my grandfather.
I still love the saying, and I know that I've used it before: in the end, either we will say to God "Thy will be done" or God will say to us "thy will be done."
One of the things today that gets really thrown in our face is today's reading: "stop judging and you will not be judged." It seems that the people who are saying that are those who don't want to hear that something is evil and goes against God's will.
The truth is that I want to go to heaven, and if you see something in me that may prevent me from that, I would want someone to tell me so. It may hurt me quite a bit, but truthfully, I want know when I am acting out of accord with God's ways.
In that sense, I want to hear correction, and I pray that I will be strong enough to speak truth when I'm presented with the opportunity. It is an act of mercy, and in today's "politically correct" world, we are condemned for being merciful. Let us choose to be like the Father. Let us declare with our lives, "Thy will be done!"
Take care and God bless.
