Matthew 9: 18-26
While Jesus was speaking, an official came forward, knelt down before him, and said, "My daughter has just died. But come, lay your hand on her, and she will live." Jesus rose and followed him, and so did his disciples. A woman suffering hemorrhages for twelve years came up behind him and touched the tassel on his cloak. She said to herself, "If only I can touch his cloak, I shall be cured." Jesus turned around and saw her, and said, "Courage, daughter! Your faith has saved you." And from that hour the woman was cured.
When Jesus arrived at the official's house and saw the flute players and the crowd who were making a commotion, he said, "Go away! The girl is not dead but sleeping." And they ridiculed him. When the crowd was put out, he came and took her by the hand, and the little girl arose. And news of this spread throughout all that land.
Dawg's Thought:
Today's prayer intention - for tthose who have attempted suicide, that they may know the love that God has for them.
The scriptures are such a great blessing to me because it helps reveal the depth of Christ.
While it is apparent in today's reading that Christ is a healer, it was great to see the Christ Who comforts and affirms us, as well as the Christ Who is our champion.
How often in today's society are we "beaten up" because of not only our faith, but also in the ways that we have been made imperfect? Growing up, I always felt the self-imposed weight of being a "larger kid" and a "slow learner." If have that weight on you as well, take comfort as Christ desires to turn you and say, "Courage! Your faith has saved you."
When the thoughts of self-doubt come, it is also comforting to be able to ask Jesus to be our Champion. He sent away those who ridiculed Him. We are under spiritual attack daily, and Christ is there, ready to defend us.
As we continue to learn of the Person of Christ through the Gospels, let us pray that we can grow in humility to that He can increase while we decrease. Take care and God Bless.
