Thursday in the First Week of Lent
Matthew 7:7-12

Jesus said to his disciples: "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Which one of you would hand his son a stone when he asked for a loaf of bread, or a snake when he asked for a fish? If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good things to those who ask him.

"Do to others whatever you would have them do to you. This is the law and the prophets."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those who are going through the adoption process.

What good father would hand his son a gun when his son said he wanted to kill himself?

When we approach The Lord in our prayers, it is always good to understand our role before Our Heavenly Father. Our Heavenly Father will not give us anything that will harm us, but will give us everything we need in order to grow in holiness.

What good father would hand his son $10,000 because he asks for it.

Our Lord will never give anything that will separate us from Him. Along with that, God will never give us the means to sin. Instead, He will give us the means to love, and what a wonderful way to grow in love than to "deny thy self." A good father who does not give his son everything he wanted allows his son to grow in virtue: patience, self-control, protection from gluttony.

What good Father would hand His Son over to be crucified?

A Father who loves His children... Our Father who loves you. Take care and God Bless.
